SPECIAL EVENTS

2ND SATURDAYS 
UNITY DAY
TRIPS FOR KIDS 

For over 8 years, the following outreach occurred on the second Saturday of each month behind the JFK Library:

For Seniors living in nearby senior housing, homeless residents, and anyone happening by -

a. Hot Breakfast was served; tables and chairs were set up 

b. Vallejo Mobile Health: Since 2019, they conducted health checks c. Free clothing 

d. Food Bank Truck: distributed boxes of fresh produce 

e. D’s Mobile Hair Cuts 4 Hope offered free haircuts (1440 given since 2013)

Volunteer Partners: 15-20 individuals each month; 3 churches, 1 business and 2 nonprofits 

Unity Day is a community wide event that celebrates the beauty, diversity and talent present in the city of Vallejo. Due to the illness of our founder and then the pandemic, this event has not occurred since 2018. This event is typically held in City Park on the second Sunday of September. 

Volunteers: 100’s of individuals and over 40 partners

Vallejo Together takes children living in the Christian Help Center, motels, some children from local schools and those participating in the Kids With Cancer program on day trips.

i. Movies 

ii. Horseback Riding 

iii. Visit Local Points of Interest: The Maritime Academy ship tour of The Golden Bear; ferry ride to Angel Island, etc.

 

Volunteers: 20 individuals, multiple non-profits and businesses 

THANKSGIVING 
SENIOR LUNCHEON

We partner with the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge, Sol Trans and numerous volunteers from the community to put on this luncheon for our seniors. This year we delivered 400 meals to seniors at senior apartment complexes. Ordinarily, Sol Trans buses pick them up and bring them to the Moose Lodge where there is entertainment and a delicious meal.

 

Volunteers: 100 individuals 2 schools, 3 non-profits, 2 businesses

FAMILY CHRISTMAS
PARTY 
HALLOWEEN TRICK
OR TRUNK 

We partner with the Loyal Order of Moose. Ordinarily we plan a fun afternoon for 150 children/youth and their families. The afternoon includes lunch, art activities, games, Candyland treats and a visit from Santa. Each child receives a gift and a new book. This year we had a Candy Cane Lane drive through event. Over 140 children/youth received gifts,new books and art activity bags. Each car/family also received a pizza with drinks and a box of fresh produce and groceries. Santa and Mrs. Claus were there as well. Volunteers: 30 individuals, 8 non-profits, 3 businesses, schools

We partner with the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge for this special October 31st event. It is held in their parking lot on the weekend prior to Halloween. We ask friends and lodge members to decorate their trunks for Halloween. We offer lunch and then the children go from trunk to trunk collecting candy.

 

Volunteers: 40 individuals, 1 non-profit

EASTER BASKETS 
GIVE A DONATION

We partner with Hoppy Helpers to prepare and deliver a minimum of 50 Easter Baskets to children living at the Christian Help Center or in motels as well as children from local schools (low income families). The party alternates between various parks and event spaces. In 2021, this event was a drive-through held at the Moose Lodge. 

 

Volunteers: 15-20 individuals, 2 non-profits, schools
